October 2022 — Question 6

ABC Customs Brokers, LLC (ABC) is filing entry at the port of unlading. What port code will ABC enter on the entry / entry summary for the port in which the entry is filed?

Why this answer

Entry is made at the port where the merchandise is unladen, and the port code reported on the entry and entry summary comes from the Schedule D list of CBP ports maintained under the cited port-organization regulation and the ACE instructions. In this exercise the port of unlading is Jacksonville, Florida, whose Schedule D code is 1803, so B is keyed. Option A, 1801, is the tempting distractor because it shares the district 18 prefix, but it is Tampa, a different Florida port; the remaining codes belong to ports elsewhere entirely, so matching the exact port rather than the district decides the question. Watch for: Stopping at the district level and picking 1801, Tampa, another district 18 port.
